📹 Neymar shines as Santos beat leaders Flamengo, ease drop fears

Santos defeated Flamengo 1-0 at Vila Belmiro on Wednesday during the 14th round of the 2025 Brasileirão. The first half was closely contested but featured few clear scoring opportunities. Flamengo controlled possession with greater technical quality, while Santos focused on counterattacks.

The decisive goal came from a Santos counterattack late in the second half, ending Flamengo's five-match unbeaten run without conceding in the league. Earlier in the first half, Flamengo nearly scored when Gonzalo Plata's shot from the edge of the area was spectacularly saved by Santos goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão. Santos responded with a chance of their own, but Deivid Washington's shot was saved by Flamengo's Rossi after a pass from Neymar.

Early in the second half, Flamengo substituted Léo Ortiz due to pain in his gluteal region, bringing on Léo Pereira. Just two minutes after the restart, Plata had another effort saved by Brazão following a spectacular pass from Arrascaeta. Brazão was called into action again later, saving a dangerous free kick taken by De la Cruz in the 28th minute of the second half.

The match also marked the official professional debut for 17-year-old Robinho Jr. (son of the former player) in the Brasileirão, following his appearance in a previous friendly.
