Multiple injuries occurred at a MARTA subway station in Atlanta, Georgia, shortly after midnight following Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter Tour" stop. The incident happened as crowds were leaving the concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Witnesses described crowds rushing to leave the venue, and MARTA officials reported a "stampede" on an escalator at Vine City Station. A MARTA spokesperson confirmed nine people were injured on the escalator. One person suffered a broken ankle, seven were transported to the hospital with cuts and scrapes, and one declined transport.
MARTA Police stated the incident began when a person started screaming and running, causing a stampede on the escalator. This caused the escalator to temporarily speed up and then stop suddenly. The escalator has been barricaded, and investigations by manufacturer Schindler and MARTA Safety are pending.
This incident follows separate news of a car break-in involving Beyoncé's choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue in Atlanta. While they were eating, two suitcases were stolen from their 2024 Jeep Wagoneer rental car.
