La Liga grant Barcelona green light for Camp Nou return

Barcelona is targeting a return to the renovated Camp Nou stadium after the September international break. The club plans to host the Joan Gamper Trophy match there as a test event before resuming La Liga and UEFA Champions League games, marking the first event since construction began on August 10th.

Initial plans for 60,000 spectators at the Gamper Trophy have been reduced to 25,000-35,000 due to construction delays, with stands behind the goals remaining closed. Barcelona has secured the first of two required council licenses (for activities and construction), but needs a "first entrance" license after completing necessary stadium work.

A private test event without fans is scheduled for July 28th to ensure safety compliance. No competitive matches will occur before Barcelona's September 13/14 home game against Valencia. UEFA officials have confirmed the stadium will be ready for Champions League matches, aligning with La Liga's return timeline.
