WNBA star Angel Reese, a forward for the Chicago Sky and the face of Reebok Basketball, has received her own signature sneaker, the Reebok Angel Reese 1. This makes her the fifth active WNBA player with a signature shoe, joining Breanna Stewart (Puma), Sabrina Ionescu (Nike), A’ja Wilson (Nike), and Jacy Sheldon (HOLO Footwear).
Reese is notably the first WNBA player in nearly three decades to receive a signature sneaker from Reebok and only the second in league history, following Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo who had a shoe during the WNBA's inaugural 1997 season.
The "Diamond Dust" colorway of the Angel Reese 1 was unveiled on Wednesday, timed for Reese to wear it during her second WNBA All-Star appearance next week in Indianapolis. Reese expressed her pride on social media, stating her Baltimore roots and hope to inspire others, while also declaring "Reebok is back."
Coinciding with the shoe launch, Reese was also revealed as the cover athlete for the WNBA edition of the upcoming NBA 2K26 video game, featuring her avatar wearing the Reebok Angel Reese 1. Reese celebrated the dual announcements on social media.
Reese becomes the 11th player in Reebok's nearly 70-year history to receive a signature basketball shoe. Shaquille O'Neal, Reebok's first signature basketball athlete and now President of Reebok Basketball, originally signed Reese to an NIL deal during her time at LSU. This partnership continued into her WNBA rookie season, culminating in a multi-year contract extension signed in October 2024 that specifically guaranteed her a signature shoe.
Reebok CEO Todd Krinsky explained that Reese embodies the brand's history of partnering with transformative, larger-than-life personalities who impact both on-court performance and off-court culture, comparing her impact to that of Shaq and Allen Iverson. The launch of her signature shoe comes less than two years after she joined the resurgent brand.
