Theo Maledon, Real Madrid's new signing, discussed his transfer to the Spanish club in an interview with SKWEEK following a standout EuroLeague season with ASVEL. After returning from the NBA, Maledon averaged 17.0 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, establishing himself as ASVEL's leader and earning the move to Madrid.

The 24-year-old French guard admitted he hasn't fully processed the transfer, expecting it to feel real during preseason when he meets the coach and teammates. He described joining "the biggest team in Europe" as "incredible" and "like a dream," emphasizing the significance of the opportunity.

Maledon revealed that initial contact with Real Madrid began in December, but he remained focused on ASVEL until playoffs approached. At that point, negotiations intensified, prompting him and his agent to evaluate "the smartest move" for his future career development.

When questioned about potential NBA returns, Maledon kept the possibility open, stating: "I'm still open to it. Obviously, the NBA is always a goal." However, he stressed his current satisfaction with Madrid and appreciation for the EuroLeague's competitive level, noting he's "taking it day by day" without immediate concerns about leaving Europe.
