A photo circulated online in July 2025, purportedly showing WNBA star Caitlin Clark wearing a T-shirt stating "I deserve NBA money," gaining significant traction on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Threads with posts amassing thousands of likes.
However, investigation revealed the photo did not authentically depict Clark making that statement. It originated from an NBACentel post on X (formerly Twitter) on July 19, the night of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. NBACentel explicitly identifies itself as a parody account and is not affiliated with official sports outlets.
Contrary to the viral image, verified Getty Images photos from the event show that Clark and other participating players actually wore identical T-shirts printed with the phrase "Pay us what you owe us" before the game commenced.
Snopes has previously addressed other satirical claims disseminated by NBACentel, including a fabricated quote attributed to LeBron James in September 2024, and has also fact-checked numerous other claims regarding Caitlin Clark.
