Chris Barnes leads the PBA50 World Championship heading into the finale for the third consecutive year. After Mark Clark briefly took the lead by 18 pins following a 5-1 match play record in Friday's morning block, Barnes retook the top spot with his second 4-2 record of the day in the afternoon session.
Barnes currently holds a 55-pin advantage over John Janawicz. Janawicz, sitting in second place, is aiming to win the World Championship and achieve the Senior Super Slam. Mark Clark is third, 40 pins behind Janawicz, followed by Tom Daugherty in fourth and Brad Angelo in fifth. Clark had the best overall match play record (10-2), while Angelo made the biggest leaderboard jump, moving from 15th to fifth with an 8-4 record. James Krafft also moved up significantly, from 11th to sixth.
Tom Hess, also seeking the World Championship win to complete the Senior Super Slam, is ninth, 61 pins behind Angelo. He posted the highest block score on Friday (1,382). Defending champion Mario Quintero is in 16th place. If either Janawicz or Hess wins, they would become the first bowler ever to win the Senior Super Slam (Masters, U.S. Open, Tournament of Champions, Players Championship, and World Championship).
Janawicz leads the PBA50 points standings (deciding Player of the Year), while Tom Daugherty, the only bowler to make two stepladder finals in this World Series so far, is second in points and first in earnings during his rookie season. Barnes is aiming for back-to-back tournament wins and his fifth PBA50 title at JAX 60.
The final six games of round-robin match play determine the top five for the stepladder finals on Saturday. Match play concludes at 10 a.m., with the stepladder finals starting at 3 p.m. The winner earns a major championship title and $25,000, broadcast live on BowlTV.
