The Phoenix Suns have expressed interest in acquiring Golden State Warriors restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga but are unlikely to secure him due to insufficient draft assets required for a sign-and-trade deal, according to Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic.
NBA insider Jake Fischer reports the Warriors are demanding a first-round pick in any trade involving Kuminga. While contract negotiations between Kuminga and Golden State continue, significant gaps remain: Kuminga seeks a four-year contract worth $30 million annually, whereas the Warriors prefer a three-year deal averaging $20 million per season to increase trade flexibility.
Despite the Suns' offseason overhaul—which included trading veterans Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal while adding young talents like Jalen Green and Mark Williams—acquiring Kuminga appears unfeasible. Phoenix views the 22-year-old as a valuable future asset but lacks the necessary resources to meet Golden State's asking price.
