The rift between Drake and LeBron James deepened after James attended Kendrick Lamar’s "Pop Out" concert last year amid Drake’s feud with Lamar. This tension resurfaced when James was recently filmed dancing enthusiastically to Lamar’s Drake-dissing track "Not Like Us" at a Cannes day party with his wife and business partner. Social media reactions questioned James' loyalty, with fans accusing him of "switching up" and "forcing" his support for the diss track.

Drake has publicly targeted James throughout 2025, starting with perceived jabs in his "Fighting Irish Freestyle" where he alluded to betrayal. During live performances, including July's Wireless Festival, Drake altered lyrics to directly reference James, rapping "How I go 6 to 23 but not LeBron." He also replaced a tattoo honoring James' high school jersey with one commemorating Canadian NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Further escalating the feud, Drake’s track "What Did I Miss?" contains lyrics interpreted as criticism of James’ allegiance shift: "I saw bro went to Pop Out with them, but been d—k riding gang since ‘Headlines.’" These actions collectively underscore the ongoing fallout between the former friends.
